Awakened: Paragons Book One
by C. Steven Manley, Performed by James Anderson Foster
Israel and Erin are strangers who wake up in a dark sub basement with no memory of how they got there. As they work together to escape, they encounter the clandestine Sentry Group and are thrust into a hidden subculture of monsters, secret societies, and carefully concealed history.
The truth of human history isn’t the only surprise waiting for them, though, as the power hidden deep within their DNA suddenly manifests.
A man cursed with a monstrous hunger.
A woman who can bend space and time.
As a cult devoted to the Dark Old Ones plots to unleash their hellish masters upon the planet, will Israel and Erin stand against the coming darkness or stand back and let humanity fend for itself?
Awakened: Paragons Book One is a dark fantasy with a sci-fi thriller twist. If you like real characters in unreal situations then you love C. Steven Manley’s Paragons Trilogy.
Author C. Steven Manley was born in the winter of the year of the summer of love to a couple of crazy kids from the deep woods of Alabama. He came up the rough way, riding out his excessively dramatic home life on a steady diet of escapism courtesy of comic books, Sci-Fi and Fantasy novels, and any kind of TV show or movie that could show him a hero he could believe in, fictional or otherwise.
Straight out of high school, he joined the USAF and got out after only a single tour. He never wanted to be just one thing so he set about exploring the country and collecting skills, knowledge, and interests like a boxer collecting scars.
Eventually he settled into the healthcare world where he worked for well on thirteen years before getting disillusioned and burned out. Fortunately, a lovely young woman had taken pity on him by then and joined her life to his giving him beautiful children and the chance to stay home and care for them while writing his books.
There is irony in that because through all his life of seeking to not be ‘one thing’ and live a life filled with the road less traveled, he has always been a writer.
He has also always wondered why authors are expected to write these things in third person.
Performer James Anderson Foster is an award-winning narrator who was one of those kids that actually lettered in drama way back in High School (and if you ask nicely, he might even tell you just how far back that was). Since that time, he’s done most of his acting behind a microphone, and has narrated audiobooks for a variety of publishers, across nearly all genres – both fiction and non. He was born and raised on the west coast, and even though he’s lived in the Midwest for over a decade now, still considers Oregon “home.”
